The CMSC has a reputation for providing full days of technical presentations and educational opportunities and evenings of networking and social events.  In addition, CMSC has a repuation for feeding its attendees very well.  If you leave the Conference hungry, you weren't there.

 

We will not be providing the option to purchase two day conference passes for this years conference. 

What makes the CMSC different than an industry trade show?

The CMSC is a more focused society of members that utilize portable (and fixed) 3D Coordinate Measurement Metrology. Your registration covers all activities during the week of the conference with no additional charges for each registration.

What do I receive when I cannot attend the conference but pay for my annual membership dues?

Annual membership dues provide access to the members area on the website.  This public restricted area contains annual conference proceedings, technical papers photos and the CMS by-laws.  You will also be added to CMS email information.

What can I expect at CMSC – what is included with my registration?

  • Expect full days Tuesday through Thursday From 7am to 6pm.
  • The Full Conference package entitles each person to the following activities:
    • Ice Breaker Reception on Monday Night
    • 18 to 25 technical presentations
    • 40 to 50 Vendor Exhibits and information booths
    • User group meetings and technical workshops and siminars 
    • CMSC Hotel Discount rate while available
    • Admission to all general sessions of presentations & speakers
    • Lunch Buffet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
    • Dinner and entertainment on Wednesday evening. You may bring a guest to the banquet for an additional fee.

What do I tell my employer to convince them to let me attend the CMSC?

CMSC is an international group of close tolerance industrial measurement specialists and manufacturers and developers of alignment systems, targeting hardware, Portable Coordinate Measurement Machine's (PCMMs), electronic theodolites, laser projection systems, laser trackers, laser radar, photogrammetry / videogrammetry systems and metrology software. No other conference or seminar in the country focuses specifically on 3D coordinate metrology. When you combine virtually every 3D measurement system/software manufacturer with an specialized class of users you have an unparalleled exchange of information, ideas and equipment. The technical presentations and Thursday seminars provide an invaluable exchange of knowledge.

Can I present a paper at CMSC?

CMSC encourages attendees to present a paper at CMSC. The registration fee will be waived for attendees whose papers are accepted for presentation at the conference. Presentation criteria and information is available on the Presentation Information page. If you would like to present a paper, please email your request and a brief abstract to Michael Raphael at presentations@cmsc.org

How do I get on the Executive Committee?

Committee members are elected by the CMSC membership during the week of the conference. In a typical year, two at-large committee members and one vice-chairman are elected by those attending CMSC. If you are interested in being a member of the Executive Committee, please contact the nominations committee by sending an e-mail to ugreen562@aol.com .

What airport should I fly into?

The most convenient and closest airport is the

San Diego International Airport.

 

The Executive Committee has reached agreements for Domestic and International airfare discounts to San Diego with 3 airlines. When making airlinereservations you must use the attached codes to receive the airfarediscounts. See Airline Discount Options HERE.

Am I required to stay at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina?

Attendees to the CMSC are not restricted to stay at the hotel facility where the conference is held.  In year's past, the conference has completely booked the hotel and overflow went to a hotel nearest to the conference proceedings. However each year as the surroundings change, it is much simpler to stay at the Hotel with the rest of the conference attendees where sponsors schedule events that run well into the late evening hours.  Most of these events are posted on the website program but some of the organizations sponsors do not make the publication dates.  We recommend you speak to an associate that has participated in the past or contact one of the CMSC Executive Committee members with questions that may be more focused on your company requirements.

Does CMSC need any volunteers?

Yes, CMSC can always use volunteers. Typically, most voluntary requirements are during the week of our technical conference. CMSC Excutive Committee can always use help with organized set-up, signage placementcarrying ect. If you wish to volunteer, please notify a committee member prior to the event and during the week of the conference as your schedule allows.

Will there be a tour on Friday?

Yes!  This year's tour is sponsored by Nikon.  We will be touring the USS Midway Museum.

Experience life at sea aboard one of America’s longest-serving aircraft carriers. Join us on Friday, July 26th from 8:00am-1:00pm and walk where over 225,000 sailors served our country! Take this opportunity and explore with us as we tour the museum with our dedicated Docent tour guides. Then, we welcome you to stay for our luncheon held on the largest elevator of the Midway overlooking the Bay.

We encourage all members to bring their families and associates. There are nominal fees associated with events and meals for those not registrating as members. These costs are available on the registration page.
