Working in the shipbuilding industry for 34 years, I graduated from the Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School in 1984 and supervised hull construction on the USS Los Angeles Class Submarine program for 10 years. I was introduced into the field of metrology in 1993 as a measurement technician in the Dimension Control department. At that time we were only using film photogrammetry and computer aided theodolites. As measurement technology tool hold in the shipbuilding industry, I was fortunate to grow with the industry and technology, gaining further responsibilities supervising measrement technicians and as a Test Inspection Manager managing product line measurement activities. I am currently developing and implementing a Training and Development System for the department to further enhance the capabilities and quality of the measurement technicians and also integrating new measurement technologies into the company.
