Stephen Kyle

University College London

Dr. Stephen Kyle has a degree in engineering from the University of Cambridge, a PhD in engineering measurement from University College London and has worked exclusively in portable coordinate metrology (PCM) for over 30 years.

For part of that time, Stephen worked on commercial metrology systems development at Leica Geosystems (now Hexagon MI) where, for example, he was responsible for the sensitivity and calibration analysis for the first 6D laser tracker (T-Cam and T-Probe design).

Stephen now works independently but in close cooperation with University College London where he has been involved in metrology development for Airbus UK and in large multipartner research projects such as LUMINAR (completed July 2016) and the Light-Controlled Factory (ongoing). He is on the technical committee of the European Portable Metrology Conference and his knowledge transfer activities are now concentrated on developing the UCL metrology portal.
