Abstract

Laser trackers have seen wide use in the aerospace industry since the early 1990s. Users follow several field check methods including manufacturer recommended procedures as well as userdefined procedures. Brunson Instrument Company in conjunction with the US Air Force developed the first NIST certified field check system they call the KinAiry system. This white paper and presentation will describe how Lockheed Martin Space implemented the KinAiry system over three sites to ensure the quality of data taken with their laser trackers as well as extending calibration cycles to realize cost savings.
