Founded in 1995, Direct Dimensions specializes in the application and sales of advanced 3D scanning and industrial dimensional measurement products for the solution of complex 3D problems. We provide solutions for a wide range of fields from design, engineering, and manufacturing to art, sculpture, and architecture. We specialize in the unique application of advanced 3D scanning and imaging systems and the conversion of raw 3D ‘point-cloud’ scan data into high-resolution/high-accuracy 3D computer CAD models for subsequent downstream manufacturing, analysis, and visualization applications.
Over the past 25 years, scanning projects have included military and commercial vehicles (such as airplanes, helicopters, ships and subs), consumer products (such as power tools, jewelry, and sports equipment), various sculpture (such as Matisse and Degas) and architecture (such as the National Air and Space Museum, RFK Stadium, and much of Times Square in NYC). Notable projects include the original 1903 Wright Brother’s airplane propeller, the Liberty Bell, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, many military and commercial jets, large building projects and many notable art museum’s sculptures.
