Abstract

MIT Lincoln Laboratory, a Federally Funded Research and Development Center, primarily develops, builds demonstration prototypes and conducts performance experimentation of cutting edge technology in support of national defense. IT and physical security requirements change the dynamics of typical customer-OEM interaction. Experiment components submitted to inspection range from microscopic to 120 meters in diameter. Verification and acceptance testing is conducted using stationary coordinate measuring machines for the majority of piece parts supplemented with portable CMMs for larger pieces, assemblies and fieldwork. This talk will highlight the role of CMMs in supporting projects and programs that have been released for public distribution
