David Novotny

National Institute of Standards and Technology

David Novotny is the happy husband of Michelle Novotny, proud father of three daughters: Hillary, Whitney and Katie, and ecstatic grandfather of recently born Gabriel Patrick Warfield.  He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees from the University of Colorado.  He has worked at the National Institute of Standards and Technology since 1989, where his work has focused on electromagnetic studies into antennas, propagation, and intentional and incidental interference effects.  He has been awarded the Department of Commerce Bronze medal for an EM shielding analysis of the Space Shuttle for Return-to-Flight Status, and Gold and Bronze medals for electronic border-document electromagnetic security analysis and operational validation.
His recent work in millimeter wave antennas has required the measurement of accurate position and orientation of test objects in coordination with other measurements and is grateful to the CMSC and several of its members for providing a forum for rapid learning and knowledge gathering.
